What is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia or Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FM or FMS) is characterized by chronic widespread pain and allodynia (a heightened and painful response to pressure). Fibromyalgia symptoms are not restricted to pain, leading to the use of the alternative term fibromyalgia syndrome for the condition. Other symptoms include debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbance, and joint stiffness. Some people also report numbness and tingling, as well as cognitive dysfunction. Fibromyalgia is frequently associated with psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety. It has become the dumping ground for doctors when they do not know what else to call it. They often misdiagnose these symptoms as depression and associate them with psychological conditions. This only makes the patient feel worse and that it is “all in their head”. They immediately go on anti-depressants, powerful pain killers and other drugs to numb them into a form of acceptance. Anti-depressants? It may be due to nerve damage not depression! Not all people with fibromyalgia experience major psychologically associated symptoms.
Its exact cause is unknown but recent evidence points to, neurological or neurobiological, genetic and environmental factors. There is evidence that environmental factors and certain genes increase the risk of developing fibromyalgia –The central symptom of fibromyalgia, namely widespread pain, appears to result from neurological or neuro-chemical imbalances including activation of inflammatory pathways in the brain, which results in abnormalities in pain processing. The brains of fibromyalgia patients show functional and structural differences from those of healthy individuals, but it is unclear whether the brain anomalies cause fibromyalgia symptoms, or are the product of an unknown underlying common cause. Some research suggests that nerve damage to muscles, as a result of chronic inflammation or nerve stress, may be a cause.
Fibromyalgia has been recognized as a diagnosable disorder by the US National Institutes of Health and the American College of Rheumatology. Fibromyalgia, a central nervous system disorder, is described as a “central sensitization syndrome” caused by neurobiological abnormalities which act to produce physiological pain as well as neurological symptomatology. That means nerve damage may be a major cause of this problem.
Relief at the Speed of Light
Imagine lying down and relaxing for a half an hour and getting up and feeling less pain and aches. Pulsed near infrared light therapy is part of a unique treatment protocol with a considerable success rate in helping Fibromyalgia pain. This is not heat therapy. The treatment converts light energy to chemical energy, which stimulates the nerve cells to regenerate.
A special myofacial “Rapid Release” therapy in also included to help reduce muscular and ligament fibrosis, adhesions and scar tissue, often associated with chronic Fibromyalgia. This is not massage but an advanced instrument utilizing resonance frequencies to specifically target adhesions and scar tissue (think of an opera singer shattering a glass).
Along with light and myofacial therapy, non-violent, non-invasive, spinal treatment is also introduced to help patients get well with literally no twisting or popping of their spine. A patented, highly-researched, low- force, instrument is used on the spine. This Instrument is 100 times faster than the human hand. This remarkably painless and safe procedure works even on degenerated spines.
This multi pronged approach helps reduce nerve irritation, inflammation and helps repair damaged nerves. Along with specific nutritional support, this results in reduced pain, deep aches, tingling, burning, numbness, as well as the relief of touch without extreme pain. There is also less dependency on medication and better sleep. It is painless, drug free and non invasive.
I have used this break- through protocol to successfully treat patients with associated symptoms of Fibromyalgia. They achieve significant success in the relief of their symptoms. I have seen this treatment change people’s lives.
Our office offers a solution.
Traditional medicine has no cure for Fibromyalgia or neuropathy at this time. The extremely powerful drugs dispensed to patients do NOT TREAT the NERVE DAMAGE! They numb the brain to numb the pain. Most patients cannot tolerate a drugged existence but feel they have NO OTHER OPTION against this horrifying pain.
