Dear Patients and Friends,
I love this time of year. Spring is just around the corner, things are about to bloom. It’s good to take a moment to look around and get a sense of appreciation and excitement for all of the renewal going on.
Spring will officially begin on Saturday, March 22nd . But before that….we’ve got:

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!

Screen Shot 2014-03-20 at 11.46.20 AMAnd there’s more to it than just drinking your favorite green beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic!). St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity’s most widely known figures. But for all his celebrity, his life remains somewhat of a mystery.
At the age of sixteen, Patrick was taken prisoner by a group of Irish raiders who were attacking his family’s estate. They transported him to Ireland. After more than six years as a prisoner, Patrick escaped. According to his writing, a voice-which he believed to be God’s-spoke to him in a dream, telling him it was time to leave Ireland. Soon after, Patrick began religious training, a course of study that lasted more than fifteen years.
After his ordination as a priest, he was sent to Ireland with a dual mission-to minister to Christians already living in Ireland and to begin to convert the Irish. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century.
The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years. The first St. Patrick’s Day parade took place not in Ireland, but in the United States.
In 1848, several New York Irish aid societies decided to unite their parades to form one New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Today, that parade is the world’s oldest civilian parade and the largest in the United States, with over 150,000 participants.
Today, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by people of all backgrounds in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Modern customs to celebrate the holiday include sporting the shamrock, wearing green clothing, listening to Irish music, and eating corned beef. Dying of the Chicago River green has been a tradition since 1962. And of course, if you choose to indulge in a green frosty beverage, be sure to do it in moderation!

Crazy for Coconut Oil!

from www.sunwarrior.com

Screen Shot 2014-03-20 at 11.47.24 AMCoconut oil has a bit of a craze surrounding it lately. People have put together hundreds of different uses for this beneficial oil ad it’s found its way into pantries, HYPERLINK “http://www.sunwarrior.com/news/natural-alternatives-for-your-medicine-cabinet/” \t “_blank” medicine cupboards, and even first aid kits. Some of the uses may seem bizarre at first, but coconut oil has garnered this newfound fame for good reason. It works.
For years, coconut oil has had a bad name, lumped in with unhealthy saturated fats. People steered away from it and other high fat foods. The problem with throwing coconut oil in the same category as butter, margarine, and shortening is this oil is far healthier than it appears. The saturated fats in coconut oil come from medium chain triglycerides. These shorter fat chains are easily put to use by the body and are not simply stored away as fat.
This means coconut oil boosts energy levels, raises good cholesterol, and balances out blood sugar without the weight gain, cholesterol, and other health risks that come from other saturated or trans fats. Coconut oil doesn’t stop there. It’s antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, and antiviral. It also aids in the absorption of vitamins and minerals. These immune boosting properties make it the perfect oil to use in a million ways. Here are 15 of our favorites!
Massage Oil – Coconut oil soothes tired and sore muscles. Add a few drops of essential oils for more effect.
Athletes Foot – The powerful antifungal properties of coconut oil make it perfect for any fungal infection. Add a few drops of oregano or tea tree oil for more antifungal power.
Acne – Coconut oil gently fights the bacteria that cause acne. Dab it directly on the offending pimples and watch them shrink.
Cleanser – Coconut oil makes an effective and gentle cleanser to remove the grime of the day.
Lice – Coconut oil kills and removes this pesky problem.
Stretch Marks – Prevent and soften stretch marks from pregnancy with coconut oil for soft and supple skin.
Warts and Moles – Rub oil into area and cover with a bandage. Rub in fresh oil and place a new bandage each day.
Moisturizer– Coconut oil is an excellent way to soften and hydrate dry, rough, or damaged skin.
Face Scrub – Mix coconut oil with baking soda, sugar, or cinnamon and oatmeal for the perfect face scrub and exfoliator.
Dandruff – Massage coconut oil into the scalp to ease symptoms of dandruff, both itching and flaking.
Curb Appetite – Take a spoonful before meals to curb appetite so you don’t overeat.
Wrinkles – Rub into lines, creases, and wrinkles to rehydrate skin and soften those wrinkles away.
Sore Throat – Dissolve a spoonful in your mouth and let it slowly roll down the throat. This will coat and protect the throat, boost the health of mucus membranes, and fight any infection.
Ring Worm – Rub coconut oil onto affected area to kill the fungus that causes unsightly ringworm. Add tea tree oil to clear the infection even faster.
Lip Balm – Coconut oil hydrates and protects lips. Coconut even offers some protection from the sun, about an SPF 4.

Do Not Eat This for Breakfast

Do you eat oatmeal for breakfast? While it certainly can be a solid, healthy option, most are heavily processed and absolutely TERRIBLE for you.

For example, I was just at the store and took a look at a brand of “heart-healthy” instant oatmeal (their claim), the “Maple and Brown Sugar” flavor.

First, there is no maple in it. There is also no brown sugar in it. Instead, it’s packed with artificial ingredients, colors, and flavors. It’s also packed with regular sugar and I’ve even seen some varieties with the “flavor” gel packets full of high fructose corn syrup…talk about royally screwing up oatmeal!

This product also has a significantly higher glycemic index than regular “old fashioned oatmeal” due to its instant nature where it’s been pre-cooked via high-heat processing. This high heat processing also robs the oatmeal of many important vitamins and minerals, making it an overall less nutritious product.

So, if you’re going to go with oatmeal, please stay away from the instant, processed, sugar-laden versions.

Instead, the best choice is plain ol’ steel cut oats. While they take a few extra minutes to cook, it’s certainly worth it for the lower glycemic index, extra fiber, and greater vitamin and mineral content…all while avoiding all that processed garbage.

““How I Recommend You Lose 10 Pounds, Keep It Off, & Fit Into A New Pair Of Jeans””

First of all, losing weight can be two things. It can either be hard, where you struggle with it constantly, or where the pounds just seem to “melt away,” leaving you feeling really good about yourself and your physique. If you like the second choice, KEEP READING.
If you want to lose weight, you have to cut all the sugar, rehydrate your body with some pH water, and learn how to eat a sensible diet. You can lose weight without exercising, but if you exercise just a little everyday, say 15 minutes, you can feel better, look better, fit into your old jeans, and have the confidence you used to have. You’re going to move like you did 20 years ago.
The rules are simple. You can lose the 10 pounds, and all you have to do is follow my suggestions I give you in the program. One of the biggies is to eliminate ALL sugar from your diet, and I mean all sugar, and cut out the possibility of putting on fat. When you do this, you’re addressing the “hormonal imbalances” your body has brought on since you developed insulin sensitivity, and you’re re-stabilizing your body – without all of the inflammation that processed sugars created in your body. (I have a product specifically for inflammation that is available with my program, if you want quicker weight loss results.)
Eliminating all the sugar, while rehydrating your body with pH water, stimulates an increase in something called cellular metabolism while simultaneously eliminating energy crashes, excess-sugar fat deposits, and abnormalities in blood pressure and heart rate response that take place with dehydration. When you follow my program your body realizes its ready for change, and it responds quickly. (you start dropping weight fast)
The program we offer has been proven to work, time and time again. You can lose up to a pound of FAT per day, just following this simple system. If you want to lose weight, schedule an appointment today to see our video.
